Art Angels, also based in California, uses visual art has a tool to establish conversation about health and sustainability.
The Center on Age and Community, provides visual art and lots of theatre incorporating elder creators with dementia. Currently, they’re partnering with Portland’s own Sojourn Theatre! (Go Sojourn!)
The Creative Center, helps cancer patients find their visual artist, writer, and/or actor within through workshops, and provides shows and events for them to display their art.
The Art of Elysium brings volunteer actors, artists, and musicians together with children battling serious illness.

The Value of Arts in Healthcare
From Hospital Arts Inc. in New York (since 1975) to Duke University Health Arts Network (since 1978, Shands at the University of Florida and Washington Medical Center (since 1986)among many others, the arts have been used to enhance wellness in the United States and internationally including at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London (since 1990).
Incorporated in 2001, Well Arts Institute has focused on creative writing integrating music, fine arts and dance and theater arts into our work. Research shows that using arts in healthcare has widespread clinical benefits ranging from reductions in psychological and physiological stress to increases in self-esteem to greater understanding and awareness of physical and mental illnesses (Staricoff, 2004)…….
