Well Arts has been working with the elders at Augustana Lutheran Church using creative writing workshops, art and music to create a staged production of their writings. It was an amazing event! Over 175 people were captivated and inspired by the stories of their elders.

Voices of Our Elders – November, 2009

Elders from Emerson House,Friendly House, Summer Place and Terwilliger Plaza brought their memories to the community through stories and music in November 2009.

Children and their parents share stories of
their living and coping with the challenges
of growing up with Type 1 diabetes. The writers were then teamed with professional actors who helped craft their stories for the stage. The theater production at Portland Actors Conservatory was presented to the community and healthcare professionals serving this population. Stories form this show are available to elementary and high schools throughout the region. Learning how to cope with life and illness through a child’s and parent’s perspective. This was directed by Diane Englert./strong>
